I am the spouse of a professor in the Pediatrics department at Stanford University School of Medicine. I would perhaps have become a doctor myself, but my career exploration experiences in the early 1970s in Oakland, CA, included such racist and bigoted attitudes exhibited by certain physicians, that without quite realizing the cause of my discontent, I eventually chose to pursue other interests. I also have a master's in Music from The Juilliard School, in violin. In addition, I am a Soto Zen Buddhist nun currently leading a secular life. We have a daughter and a dog...
